Blue Barite Crystals - Morocco Mineral Specimen
Blue Barite Crystals - Sidi Ayed, Morocco Mineral Specimen
Quick Facts
Origin: Sidi Ayed, Boulemane Province, Morocco
THE SPECIMEN
Blue Barite mineral specimen. These pieces feature cool, bladed blue crystals.. It is a highly prized piece for collectors. No two clusters are alike; the "desert rose" or "cockscomb" formation of the blue barite against the sparkling druzy yellow base is unique to this specific piece.
ABOUT THIS FIND
While Morocco is famous for producing barite, this specific combination comes from the Sidi Ayed mine.
The Locality: Sidi Ayed is situated geographically close to the famous mining districts of Aouli and Mibladen. Because these mines are neighbors, specimens are sometimes mislabeled as "Aouli" or "Mibladen," but the distinctive yellow fluorite base is the hallmark of the Sidi Ayed veins.
The Formation: The crystals form in hydrothermal veins. The fluids that deposited these minerals were rich in barium, precipitating into cavities in the host limestone rock to form these geode-like clusters.
MINERALOGY
Composition: This specimen is Blue Barite (Barium Sulfate) crystals.
The Colors: The soft blue color of the barite is natural, often caused by exposure to natural radiation over millions of years which creates "color centers" in the crystal lattice.
METAPHYSICAL PROPERTIES
The Stone of "Aligned Action"
In the metaphysical community is the spiritual communication of barite.
Communication & Intuition: Blue Barite connects to the Throat and Third Eye Chakras. It is known as a stone of inter-dimensional communication, helping you articulate complex thoughts and spiritual truths with clarity. It is an excellent talisman for speakers or teachers, helping one to process emotional wounds (Barite).
