DIAGNOSIS
A small Glyphocyphus very similar to Glyphocyphus radiatus of Europe with a smaller peristome, larger genital plates, narrower interambulacra in relationship to the ambulacra, and a much higher ambitus .

SPECIMENS STUDIED & CONDITION: One small perfect specimen found (Holotype NPL 70930) .
ETYMOLOGY: This species is named after Chris Garvie, a renowned paleontologist and author who found this specimen.
REMARKS & COMPARISONS
Remarks: Glyphocyphus garviei has a slightly smaller peristome, narrower interambulacra, and a much higher ambitus than Glyphocyphus radiatus. It has fewer sutural pits than G. radiatus and smaller mamelons on the adoral side.
Comparisons:
Remark: (02-26) Adkins, 1928 identified small (7.2 mm) temnopleurids in the Taylor Marl and Navarro sequences (specifically the Nacatoch Sand) and said they were of the genus Zeuglopleurus. Zeuglopleurus emmonsi (formerly Echinocyphus emmonsi) are known from S. Carolina. They cannot be this specimen because Zeuglopleurus are imperforate and non-crenulate.

- G. mespilia: G. garviei is very inflated compared to G. mespilia; buccal notches are less pronounced.
- G. difficilis & G. mespilia: G. garviei has about 40% more plates and tubercles in the interambulacra.
