THE SPECIMEN
This Moroccan Pink Barite specimen displays the elegant peach‑pink to rose‑blush coloration that makes these pieces highly sought after. The crystals typically form in:

• thin, bladed stacks
• tabular rosettes
• layered fans
• parallel or radiating clusters

The color ranges from pale pastel pink to deeper salmon tones, caused by trace iron oxide inclusions within the barite. Moroccan material is known for its clean crystal faces, sharp edges, and delicate translucency when held to the light.
Each specimen is visually graceful, with a soft, warm glow that contrasts beautifully against the white, tan, or red matrix often found in Moroccan deposits.

The Locality
​Pink Barite is most famously collected from:

• Mibladen, Morocco – known for sharp, well‑formed bladed crystals
• Bou Azzer District – produces thicker, more robust pink blades
• Atlas Mountain mining zones – various pockets with pastel coloration

These regions are rich in hydrothermal veins containing barite, vanadinite, cerussite, and other lead‑ and copper‑associated minerals.

The Formation
Barite forms when barium‑rich hydrothermal fluids move through fractures in host rock. As the fluids cool, barite precipitates into:

• bladed crystals
• tabular plates
• rosette formations

The pink coloration comes from iron oxide staining or microscopic inclusions trapped during crystal growth. Moroccan conditions produce exceptionally aesthetic, well‑defined crystals.
