This is a stunning example of what is known in the collector's trade as "Cave Calcite" or "Flos Ferri" (Flowers of Iron). It features a complex, three-dimensional network of snow-white botryoidal growths that look remarkably like white coral, popcorn, or frost. Unlike the geometric crystals of standard minerals, this piece feels organic and flowing, growing in bulbous, cloud-like formations.
SPECIFICATIONS
While Morocco is famous for the red hexagonal aragonite from Tazouta, this white variety comes from the Ighoud region (and sometimes Oujda). These form in ancient limestone caves. Groundwater rich in calcium carbonate drips slowly over thousands of years, building up these stalactitic and botryoidal (grape-like) shapes layer by microscopic layer.
